tire question for 19's

Hi,

I'm looking for new rears for my car and i'm considering switching off the Michellin PS2 (too expensive).

what are my alternatives?

I dd see the Falken FK-452 and the Toyo-T1R, both are roughly equivalent pricing. Curious to know what others recommend...

Thanks...

I would go with the T1R's over the falkens anyday.
I'm using these cuz ps2's costs so much in 315's

thanks - that's what i suspected to be the case. not much selection in this size (for some reason).

I must say i do wish there was the exact diameter of 25.5 to match the fronts. the rears being 25.2 s just a hair short...

whats the reason for this?

i'm just curious because i was actually in the market for some new tires as well. i was debating over the FK452 or the T1R's

I've had fk452's and they don't compare to the T1R's I have now.

okay. :) they're basically in the same price range so I've just been trying to find out which to go with.

I just bought some Sumitomos from TireRack in 18's. They have 19's but only go to 275's. Call Damon @ TireRack?

I think you should look into Continentals as well. They are a little more the the toyos but quite a few hundred less than the PS2s

WOODTSTER May 25, 2009 08:16 AM

I actually liked the Conti's as well, but have had great all around success with the
PS2. I run 19" (235/35 and 315/25), and like them as they are predictable good all around tires. Funny thing about PS2's is that on ATOMIC Z's Z06, he didnt like them
in the size he was running (I cannot remember size but the actual sidewall height of the PS2 was much taller than my 315/25) as the sidewall is kind of spongy, and he
felt the Z06 squirmed in the rear at high speeds. I have not had that problem.
Let us know if any of these lesser priced options come in a 315/25/19 and what the
price differential is. The PS2's just seem to work very well in all conditons.

Boris,

I would stay away from Falken only b/c they run small to their size. I have seen a set of 275/35 Falken 452's and T1Rs (same size tire) on a 10" wide rear wheel side by side and the 452's gave it a real stretched look and left the lips exposed while the T1R filled up the 10" wheel well. I wouldn't buy falkens unless I was going for a VIP, flushed/fender look with an exposed lip. Alot of the VW/JDM guys like to run falkens b/c of that feature. Just my 0.02. I will be running 315/25's T1R's on my 12" rear.
