Interesting approach that their aquisition almost cost them their shirts. I thought it was reported in the fall though that Porsche posted record profits due to their interest in VW? Have they tried to bite off more than they could chew or move too fast in taking over VW?

I'm sure the various lawsuits have taken their toll as well.

This is a go big or go home strategy for sure. A merger though sounds like less influence from Porsche and more from Audi and VW which I don't like.

Horsepower will always get them out of financial trouble. Now if they would stop this +20HP every 3 years nonsense....

The germans get away with so much for a few mm of bore. Want a 3.8 and and S badge? that'll be 10K extra...

The cayenne is the reason Porsche was making so much money.... now that's in the past.

Not sure I follow, even if they did add hp, it would be to the cars that don't sell tons of units (TT, GT3, GT2). They had to increase production number of the GT3 RS due to demand. The cars selling is not the problem.

This is like Saleen trying to buy GM we are talking about. I think Porsche the auto manufacturer is doing fine, but the business entity that is merging and acquiring is drawing them thin.

The panamera was a waste of many millions IMO

porscheralph is infamous around these parts
I believe the Panamara will sell very well - just like the Cayanne did. The economy is going to turn in the next 12 months and I believe the demand for luxury cars will rebound at that time. I plan to purchase one in the Spring of 2010.
