DIY or not...DV's?
I believe I'm getting the Canadian Goose TT Syndrome, AKA honking on acceleration :mad:
I've read through the threads and know that the stock DVs (I've got a non-X50 with 46,000 on the odo) don't last that long. I'm looking probably at the Baileys or similar to replace them. Question is, though, is it a DIY (and is there a thread with instructions)? Or is this something I have to have my mechanic do? I prefer to do as much as I can myself just for the satisfaction of it all. Thanks guys :cool: |

I did them recently and it was not super hard, it is just tight and hard to get everything back together. Just takes some patience and determination! I put in some Forge DVs that were recommended by many people on this forum.

I also did it myself not long ago (Forge DVs). Took me about 1.5 hours and a bit of skin but not hard to do! (My DIY skills are very basic)
It really is a tight fit though, as they're a little bit bigger than the original plastic ones. |
Does anyone have any experience with the Agency Power adjustable valve? I guess it's a single replacement instead of putting in 2 valves...

I recommend replacing the stock F-hose with a silicone version while you are replacing the DV's, since it is minimal extra work to do it, and it will be good preventative maintenence. A new silicone F-hose plus making sure all your connections are tight after DV replacement will prevent a post DV install boost leak. The DV towards to front of the car took me a very long time to figure out how to get out, since the clamp was facing forward (to the front of the car).

it is easy to do. make sure you have some gloves and also get a set of clamp- pliers.

I received help from a firnd and it really helped.
Just a matter of having an extra pair of hands to wrestle down some of the non-cooperating components :) You will also need a pair of needle pliers to deal with the clamps. |
I did it with the help of a friend. I found it to be a PITA and probably would have someone else do it if I had to do it over again... but then again, I'm not much of a mechanic.

I got the dealer to do it for me for 2 hours labor. I would not try it yourself unless you have experiance or small hands and lots of patience.

i did mine it was ez , well when i was finished. just take you time and allow for a cut or two(no room) get the correct tool 1st that makes it a lot more fun good luck steve

dropping engine would make it considerably easier but is not mandatory....
