Porsche Super Cars
996tt Exotic? that all depends on where you live. In LA, Vegas, Miami, no. In Oklahoma/Kentucky, yes.
996tt supercar, yes and has been such time and time again, but people reviewing cars on many different magazines and shows. Regardless of what a few here think. I agree that you can't call a GT2 exotic if you are not calling a turbo exotic. To the untrained eye, they are the same car. Sorry to burst your biased bubbles.
gotta love the exclusive bias snobs in here, they are quite entertaining.

so 50 more hp and rear wheel drive and the same look as the Turbo makes your car a supercar
how pompous
The Turbo is a supercar as is the GT2, they are priced way above what the average person could ever hope to own. These days, you can't use the resale market as an example, otherwise nothing is a supercar anymore.
but if you want to take it to the extreme, then anything less than a CGT/Enzo/Zonda is not a supercar. I consider 100k sticker price the break point between supercar and not.
Supercars exposed did a piece and they called the little 50k lotus a supercar...lol.

What makes the GT2 a super car is that when I go to a Porsche dealer and ask to see a GT2, they laugh and say things like, "we have never had one of those on the lot" or "those are special order only". However, there's a whole row of TT's.
And remember, it's not only 50 HP, it's also much lighter.
But my intent is not to pull rank on anyone. My GT2 is a 2003 996, so actually it is a pretty old car compared to what's for sale now. I recognize that. From what I've read the 997 GT2 is superior in every way to my 996, so is my car still a "super car?" Some may say yes and other will disagree. All I know is that it's a thrill a minute to drive and when I take it out to Cars and Coffee or a Porsche club/BMW club meet, it sure does draw a crowd.

To make this thread more inteteresting ... i think Zonda,CGT,Koenigsegg, veyron, enzo etc are Hypercars and 911 Turbo,gt2 ,f430 etc are super cars.
Some people even think a GTR is a supercar...I am not sure if it has the heritage like Porsche and Ferrari to be called so.
Exotic or not exotic is subjective depending on where your live. I think performance/heritage will be the best metric to judge by.

I totally agree with you there. I think that's why the term "Exotic cars" came about. My list below isn't complete but it gets the point across. Notice that with each subsequent catagory it becomes a little bit more broad and there becomes multiple cars from the same manufacturer with price and performance being the main seperation. For example, I think that both the 911 GT3 as well as a Cayman are both Sports Cars, however one is built more for the driving enthusiast who prefers to do quite a bit of hard driving or even the occassional track day and is priced accordingly, whereas the Cayman is more for the occassional spirited drive through the canyons and maybe the occassional autocross but designed more as a daily driver type car. Also, take into consideration, cars age may drop a car from one catagory and into another. For example, the Lambo Diablo was definitely a Super Car by the days standards, but as time has gone by and the next batch of Super Cars have come and dethroned it, I'd say it's more of an exotic now. However today because of it's rarity and history, I would still consider the 959 and F-40 a Super car, especially since I think of the 959 and the F40 as the original "Super Cars". Lastly, yes there's some cars in one catagory that would compete performance wise with others in a different catagory, but this is my own little grading system, so obviously it's all open to interpretation

You can evaluate Supercar from a few angles...
$$$$$ - TT-no, CGT-yes, C2/C4-not even close
Performance - TT-yes, CGT-yes, C2/C4-no
Collectability - TT-I say no when many DD it, CGT-yes, C2/C4-no
Comparability with the super class (Enzo, Murcie...) - TT-no, CGT-yes, C2/C4-not even close
Getting 3 yeses out of four is pretty loose for a definiton of Supercar. My 2 cents... TT is a no, CGT is a yes.

Supercar is a term generally used for high-end sports cars, whose performance is superior to that of its contemporaries. It has been defined specifically as "a very expensive, fast or powerful car with a centrally located engine",[1] and stated in more general terms: "it must be very fast, with sporting handling to match", "it should be sleek and eye-catching" and its price should be "one in a rarefied atmosphere of its own",[2] but the correct usage of the term is both subjective and disputed, especially amongst enthusiasts. The use of the term can be dependent on the era; a vehicle that may have been considered a supercar in one decade may not be considered the same in another. The term supercar may refer to factory-built, street-legal race cars. Some vehicles referred to as supercars include features required for race cars such as roll cages.[3]
Just a very subjective topic to arrive at an answer.

What about Colorado?
...and that would be fat, LAZY, American...
I have seen more nice cars in Colorado in 5 months than I saw in Virginia in 10 years. There are lots of nice cars here. In fact, the first Veyron to make it to the states came to the Denver area. It resides in Evergreen, I think.
