Hi AWD,
Thanks for the post. There are 2 hinged fill doors on the 959's exterior. The round fill door on the hood is for fuel and the rectangular fill door on the passenger side rear is for oil. We just dropped off the 959 at the special event, we decided to drive it rather than trailer it, I'll post a quick vid of the journey shortly...

Ahh, so its for the oil. I thought the car had 2 gas tanks, but wasn't positive. So nice to hear that you guys drove it to the event.....nice to see the car is being used.

I'm still baffled by the fully height adjustable suspension in a 1987 car!! Hell, the hydraulic lifting suspension in late model Ferrari's and Lambo's doesn't work as well as Porsche's 1987 technology. That car was WAY ahead of its time!

The coolest stat I remember reading about the 959 is that it's the only production car ever built that is able to monitor and vary it's torque split (front to rear) in dry no-slip conditions. I don't recall how long ago this statement was last deemed accurate, but I wouldn't be surprised in the least if it were still true.

Video On the way to the special event...

Here's a quick vid of our 959 S on the way to the special event this week, we decided to drive it rather than take the trailer – she needed to get out anyway.

Project GT3 RS came along for the ride...

To be continued in Magazines and on Televisions near you soon...thanks

WOW. Beautiful, awesome,........ I am at a loss for words.
Nice to see you had a CHP "escort" (about 1 minute 30 seconds into the video) to make sure you arrived safely.
Hope to come down soon to take a look!!!

Hey Garey,

Yes, our 959 S was requested for the 3 day commercial shoot. Were you there? Wish I could share more, but you will see it all soon enough. All I can say is that the amount of rare Porsche street cars and race cars throughout history that were there was mind boggling. Jerry Seinfeld had over 20 of his cars there including the very 1st 911 and much more.

The Panamera is interesting in person as long as you drink scotch, squint your eyes and don't look at the back - but to each their own.

996TWINS,

You're welcome to check it out anytime, she's always here.

Yes, the CHP escort was an "unexpected" surprise...

Thank your sharing pictures of this rare car. The 959 is truely a legend in Porsche land. I would love to see better pics of the gauges, especially the AWD indicator. A video would be even better, seeing the gauge in action.

I loved that video! It reminded me of a cartoon when I was a kid of two dogs. The GT3RS was like a little puppy jumping up and down and the 959 was like the patient adult dog just pluggin along. I could almost hear the GT3RS saying "are we there yet, are we there yet?" The Surprise escourt was quite funny too. I bet the RS driver had to change his shorts when he got to the shoot.

Hi dano_S,

The shoot was incredible in regards to the large amount of rare Porsche cars throughout history that were on location.
Porsche is pulling out all the bells and whistles (or should I say smoke and mirrors) to help launch the notorious Panamera here in the states...we'll see how it works out when they start selling
