I have a key with central locking button and luggage button. When I pressed the central looking button, a red light lid (not a dead battery) and the doors do nothing - neither lock or unlock. Does my key come with radio remote control?

Might need to be reprogrammed by the dealer. If so and you have memory seats make sure the memory seat work with the key before you leave. They have to program extra steps for that. Also ask them to delete any other keys.

May need a new battery. Available at most hardwrae stores.

Try autozone. The ones by me have a fob battery sensor display. You press the button on your key and the display picks up the RF signal if it is working.

Ari, will get battery tomorrow..red light lid doesn't that mean good battery? Replacing battery route first will be cheaper than going to stealership...lol! F12, good info...thx...have to go to autozone tomorrow anyway....

Also, if the car hasn't been driven for a while, the car will go into sleep mode and the only way to unlock the car is with the key in the door. I dont know the exact amount of time, but I believe it is about 5 days. Whenever I go out to my car to drive it, i have to open the door with the key and then the locking feature will work the next time.

Anyone knows the procedure for replacing the key battery? I havent looked in the manual.

I second that.

Car was not driven for a month and I did use the key to open it since it won't work. Two days after that, key is not working.

Just pry off the little opening and the fob will split into two halves...very easy....let me know and I can take some pics for you.

Did your car come with a manual? If it didn't then I can understand your question. There are a lot of folks on this forum who are more than willing to help out, but if you have a manual wouldn't it seem prudent to read it first rather than posting for help?

And to add...if you do a search there are several pages of posts regarding key fobs...LOL

Yes, guilty as charged since I didn't do a search...my bad! I changed the battery and still can't open the door with the fob. While buying the batteries at AutoZone, I tested the key fob. The key fob is working fine. Doing a search now on fob.....Should I take it to the stealership? Thanks for reading and advices for this newbie.....

Statman, saw your reverse polarity trick...I will keep it a try....wow, there a gazillion posts on this subject. My bad for not doing a search in the first place. Mod, can you pls close this thread?

Great....now that we're through the intro 1A....welcome to the forum and hopefully you can get thru this by using one of the sugestions or procedures described in the various threads. The dealership should be the last stop.....how old is yoru car battery? You might also put your year, and model of the car in your signature block so that when you have issues, folks can look down there and see what you're driving. Sometimes there are issues related to a particular year. Your location is also helpful...if you don't want to ID your city, something close to give folks an idea of the altitude, weather conditions etc. You can also put something like blonde, blue eyes, single, 30, model for Vogue....and that will get you a lot of help too.
