globebox handle just broke?

Has anyone had this happen to them? I didn't even notice it until a passenger said why is your handle crooked. I pulled it and it seems as though one of the sides has become dislodged and some broken plastic pieces fell out. Anyone know how this could've happened and how to fix it?

Thx,
H

Search Rennlist, there are instructions there. From memory you need a 20mm Torx screwdriver and about 15 minutes, after you take out the screws (some are felt covered) there is a white clip on either side that allows the box to drop down.

Mine just did the same thing, except it still opens when the handle is how it's supposed to be. The right side where you insert the key is 'loose" and pulls away.

Thanks for the tips. I will research tonight. I still don't understand how this could've happened. I certainly never used any force opening it and I dont "think" anyone else has been in my car without me...geez at least hope not. In either case, I never lock the glovebox so not sure why you would exert force to break it.

Do you know what replacement parts I would need to repair it? Some plastic pieces did fall out when I pulled it last.

thx

Just buy a new handle it will come with everything you need, just transfer the lock over. They are a pretty poor design.
