State Farm, pleasure vehicle status on the TT - $62 per month... Full coverage w/ $500 deductible... And I thought KY was high... I used to live in Indiana and it was less than KY!

I was very pleased with the rate on this car!

I pay $97/month on the TT as a pleasure vehicle (under 3K miles/ year parked in a locked garage). WIth USAA they wanted almost $200/month for the same setup though we have 2 other cars with them and our homeowners. I went with Geico instead and still use USAA for the other cars/house.

Tell your insurance company recreational vehicle, less than 7000 miles/year.

Clean driving record over here...

Received such ridiculous quote after I picked up my TT few months ago...I was almost ready to sadly get rid of it as I am no fan to pay such premium in this *great* economy. Did kick myself for a few mins for not checking insurance before I picked up the car...definitely got carried away when I saw her in the showroom. I received a quote of $2400/6 months, and that is with my multi-car discount, home insurance, and good driving record. For your reference, I was paying $1.2k/6 months for 4 cars, including a 03 M3 (replaced by 996tt), 06 BMW 330i, 07 Mini Cooper S, and 06 Honda Odyssey.

Anyway, did numerous online quotes in an hour...out of nowhere, I found my current one, with no multi-car, no home insurance, $300/6 months for my 996TT. You bet I am sticking with this guy.

My situation is unique. I am a US Citizen looking to buy a US Spec Porsche and have it imported back into Germany from the states. No german insurance companies will touch the car since it's not in the "system" as it will have military issued plates. That leaves me with 3 choices at this point. Geico, AIU, or USAA.

Just for the 996TT, USAA wants $453 per month, AIU wants $291, and GEICO chimes in @ $309 per month. I'm told that in part, prices are high in part due to the cost of the vehicle, my one wreck (zero tickets), and the fact that it is germany which requires 7.5 million euro's in bodily injury liability and 1 million in property damage coverage!

That's amazing I have USAA as well and I pay about 950 for 6 months. Roughly 159 per month. Do you have a lot of tickets or accidents? Or, since you live in Germany maybe it's the autobahn??? That is is you still live in Germany

I have a similar situation. I will get back to you shortly with what USAA will quote me on my 02 TT.

By the way have you nailed down how you are going to get your car from the USA to Germany? I have had no luck in getting a shipping company who has satified customers. My wifes car got torn up by the DOD shipping company. So they are not an option.

I was going to say. It really has to be because of the Germany connection. Look at the numbers I bet if you asked about a quote at your home base in the USA it would be in line with most of us (82$ State Farm BTW). Would it be cheaper in the long run to get one there "in the system" then bring to USA?

Good luck either way. Insurance is a PITA.

I know this is old but I just got a quote from Hagerty for $1200 a year with zero deductable, with the value of the car at $60K. My quote from my regular insurance company was $1100.00 with 500 deductable.
