Are engine internals the same for the turbo and GT2?
The reason I'm asking is eventually I want to upgrade to K24's of some kind and am wondering if a regular turbo will support that.
Running the k24/18g set-up on my car with no internals done. These are really strong motors and if you don't go crazy with the boost they will take a lot of HP and still last a long time.

while they are basically the same there are different part numbers (don't know what is physically different) for:
cylinders/pistons
oil pump
tranny cooler
other stuff:
some lines/hoses
ICs
air ducts
fuel pump
muffler
clutch spring/master cylinder
intake manifold

upgrade away, it's the exact same engine. The major difference is the K24's, tuning, turbo intake tubes are bigger, reportedly, and larger IC's (called GT2 ic's). Of course there are more diferences than that, but for your purposes that is it.

On hard cornering or hard off the line starts the stock turbo pump is not sufficient.
Same cams.
Remember that the X-50 package came with K-24's so if your original question is
will the block of a standard 996 TT (K16) be able to withstand the mad Power from
some K-24's...the answer is yes.

I have been told that the cams are the same just the cam timing was just locked wide open on the GT2(more duration), making it less tractable but making more power. This can be done to the tt as well. This is what I remember hearing. but who knows
be the exact same parts (I have run into this on some replacement parts on my car)
I do not believe that that the pistons, heads, cams or anything other than
the oil pump and transmission cooler are different.

Wross, correct me if I am wrong but sometimes different part numbers can

You are assuming correctly. internal motor wise the only difference is the oil pump and it's pickups. The pump is higher volume and the additional pickup adds to the protection from oil starvation with tracking and fast accelerations.
