shoot-out people, and others...

I would do something about all that visable glowing. Are your headers at least 16 gauge. Thicker headers retain more heat in the tubes where it belongs. In addition ceramic coating and/or wrapping could make the difference between first and runner up on two otherwise equally set up cars.

i've never done any wrapping personally, but my thought has always been it'd just keep the heat in and not give it any room to escape.
Watt,
I definitely dish it out and yeah I can take it also. Some of your questions may be answered in the December issue of a certain magazine. I was told it made it in by the writer.

Perhaps my original point has gotten lost. I believe what sets a Porsche apart from other cars is ability to drive fast, far. I do not feel therefore that, with all due respect, CJV, Hamann or anyone else has the fastest or baddest Porsche.
Do any of us really think Porsche's are 1-lap cars? Don't you think of your P-car as being able to run fast and far? If 1-lap is your goal there are better cars out there. Isn't that why we revere LeMans?

Hell I would be up for an endurance test. Obviously it depends on the duration.
I would suspect that even a stock motor run in a 24h enduro would need a rebuild. But for an hour or so, where do I sign up?
My car ran at the Streets of Willow for an entire day without any problems whatsoever.
I know you and Watt both revere the Ruf cars as do I, but they can have problems too LIKE ANY OTHER CAR. If you punch it and high rev it for long duration periods, something will inevitably come loose or wear down. Only reason they *might* be more reliable than other setups is that their tuning program is pretty conservative.
All they do on a standard 520/550hp R Turbo package is Turbos, ECU, exhaust, and manifold. Not really all that highly tuned.
Anyway, the point is I would be up for an endurance run.

Exactly, I know you would... And yes, I don't mean 24hrs, but even 20 minutes... I am just getting tired of hearing about bad-*** Porsche's that never go more than 5 miles at a time. I mean, Wilber won an event in his/your car. THAT says something to me. Not some dyno run.

You are just going to have to be patient.
