did you need an axle nut remover and ball joint puller for the fronts?

After hearing your experience, I think I might be willing to give it a shot. Are RUF springs very different from H&R?

As a matter infact last time i was at a event, a owner in a gt3 with motons/hoosiers/pccbs beat me badly when i was in stock suspension. When i got the ruf springs/alingment/control arms/proper tires-- it was a complete 180 with the same car/driver. As a matter infact i was able to extract, 6 secs out of my previous best lap time !! For locals, thill ; i was lapping in the high 1:5X's

Where can you get ruf springs, may interested also. I'm looking for about an inch drop, the car will have 19's on it. Do you think I will run into rubbing issues?

i have H&R springs on my car. they handle great and i cant notice any sagging in the rear end. my friend has JRZ's and i prefer my suspention over his.
you will be very happy with the H&R springs.

Does anyone have a picture of a car with sagging springs? Can this for sure be attributed to the springs and not the shocks?

For a person who hasn't tried both or perhaps has tried just the PSS10s setup it might not seem logical that just a set of springs would do the job, but from reading the responses it seems like springs would work for >95% of driving situations. The detriment appears to be that *maybe* their longevity is not as good. Are there any other potential negatives?

I'm not sure honestly. I contacted RUF several times to ask them what was the spring rate, if i recall correctly they said 20% stiffer then stock but they wouldnt give me numbers.

the TT is my daily driver. So it is livable. But I also have straight pipes exhaust so i'm not the person to really be asking.

p.s for reference of the lap time. Theirs a guy here on 6speed who has a GTR, and laps 2:05's at that track. and theirs a few gt3/rs owners who lap 2:01's into the 1:5X's fwtw

H&R or other spring don't have adjustable ride height. So, if you want your car lowered or higher later, you're stuck...

If you only run lowering springs it can make your stock shocks wear out quicker because they were not designed to work with the shorter spring.

If you buy coilovers the springs and shocks are designed to work together so you will not have any problems and the car will handle better, plus you have the added bonus of adjustability.

Took them off the car when I thought about selling the car. Now its the dinner out car. Have another car for the track. If you or anyone else is interseted, the whole shooting match $1500.

Don’t do the H&R springs. See photos, what happens after 25K miles. Sag followed by clicking noise as coils rub against each other. Also you will destroy upper mounting cups. Use search you will find my thread on it. Also, because you are on OEM shocks, the springs will compress them which will make you car floaty at speed. Get PSS 10's and don't listen to people saying that lowering with H&R springs = great handling. Nobody who understands handling and racing would change just springs - it's really dim-witted. Previous owner of my car did it and now I've had to fix it. Car is now night and day. ;-).

I have a 2001 996tt with 19" Techart wheels with Stage 4 EVOM upgrades and just had the PSS10 setup installed with H & R sway bars front and rear. The car sits more than an inch lower and is much better to drive ... more compliant and responsive. The overall ride is much improved. I have not tracked the car ... someday I will get there, however now it is mostly a garage queen that out on the weekends. After looking at all the options and possible set ups and talking to various shops and tuners, I thought the best bang for the buck was the PSS10 and I am happy I went with this.
