Resurrection!!! Great write up.
I have a few questions. So I'm needing a new key. I obviously need a key fob
How do get a new set of the guts of the key, i.e. the transponder & circuit board? Also, can any lock smith cut a new blade for my new key as well? Thanks in advance.

I suggest you order a new key from the dealer. Yes, it'll cost a fortune. If you get it somewhere else (e.g. eBay), you still need the dealer to program the car and he may not be able to do it without the bar code or serial number of the transponder.
Not all key smith can cut the key. Cost is about $40 to $50.

Thanks for the recommendation but...
So what good is the Suncoast key? Is it just for folks looking to update there current key. I've been looking into a number of threads but I guess of I'm still confused Where can I get the innards of our current key to program it with the suncoast replacement? Perhaps that's not even possible??

this thread is just about replacing the head, purely for cosmetic reasons, if you need new innards then unfortunately you need to go the the dealer

Just to clarify... I spoke w/ Rick over at Suncoast. The remote control key head, and a key blank is all one needs for new key hardware. The big hurdle is finding a dealer to cut and program the key. So Hardware is $150 + programming. Not bad if you have a P-dealer contact who will work outside OEM parts

I did the same thing with my old TT key. The only problem is that the keyless entry/trunk dont function now. Not sure why.
