On the recommendation in another thread on this site, I just ordered the AutoEnginuity software. $225 for the software, connector, and cable.

For a 996 TT or other? Do you need to be able to read the data by guage or are you just looking to read live data? If you just want to view the info rather than have it on the dash and you don't need to replay the values (real data logging), then you need the Factory PST2/Wisis (PST3) or a good high line generic scan tool. The generic will give you most of the info above except for knock sensor info. If you want data logging and dash display there are a number of different companies that offer that info but splicing into the stock harness to access that info is not a good idea. If that's waht you want then a stand alone like Motec, Electromotive or the new SM4 by Autronic is the way to go but that's a very expensive proposition.

I would like to log thru the OBD2 data port and be able to extract the data to an excell spread sheet. I want the highest sampling rate possible.

yes the 996 & 993 if possible

What are your goals? The PST2 can print data and save data in a working log but as for a data retrieval system that will load into hard drive or storage device i'm not sure i have seen anything like that outside of a stand alone ems w/ data logging.

Then www.autoenginuity.com is a very good choice.

OBDII is not controlled by any manufacturer. It will work with ANY car that is equipped with an OBDII port. I doubt the emissions testing places have Porsche specific equipement when running emissions tests on P-cars....

If you want EGTs you will need an EGT gauge or a way to hook up an EGT probe to the data logger. Best bet is to just get an EGT gauge and run it to a custom mount in the glove box. Just make sure you get one with peak/hold so it can replay you the peak EGT. Also remember placement of the probe is critical to getting a proper reading.
