Project: Plenum, TB, Intake piping and fuel pump

We're are halfway through the installation of the following pieces: 75mm throttle body (From a Cayenne), Plenum, 3" intake hoses with prototype connecting pipe and an extra fuel pump.

With the help of Steve Ott at Driver Source and Dan at Vivid Racing, I'm hoping to improve performance after the install is complete. The prototype pieces from Vivid had never been installed on the 6 Speed TT they were made for initially. So, we are making changes on the fly. Of course I have a tip, which has posed challenges so far during install. Have a look at the pics. We did a base line dyno before we began which resulted in 553 HP and 599 lbs of torque at 1.34 bar.

On the aluminum connecting pipe, the fitting on the left had to be cut off and relocated so the motor could fit back in the car. We also ad to weld on a new bracket to the right.

Axles are a little too close, we are fabricating aluminum couplers formed to fit.

Pump and braided lines go in next.

Todd, you're going need bigger turbos to fill those pipes; no wonder you're looking into 3076s.

This is taking longer than expected. Iam really wanting to hear what your think of these mods!

MY996TT 08-19-2009 04:33 PM

I think this is a win win situation. If the pipes+ don't add much, you can always look at them a the prep work for bigger turbos... just add them and you're done.

Can't wait to see you run it at The Mile.
When are you going to be back up and running?

BlackHorseTurbo 08-19-2009 05:23 PM

Just a few delays. I'm anxious to see as well.

I just made slight wastegate adjustments who knew a sledgehammer could make such minute adjustments.

ReeknHavic 08-19-2009 06:20 PM

Good thinking Ben. If that fails go to plan B. (a bigger hammer).
