Shootout Times almost done
Yes, but the other Turbos aren't stock either... so platform for platform...
Obviously the modded turbos with bigger boost, turbos, etc. will make more power and thus put out bigger numbers and win the quarter mile, but the fact that the JRZ equipped GT2 did so well speaks volumes for the inherent brilliance of its suspension.

Yes, the GT2 suspension is brilliant. However, the same suspension can be transfered to the turbo. I don't believe there was a turbo in the shootout set up that way.
It really isn't fair for me to make any excuses as my car wasn't there. I believe the real question would be answered when a turbo and a GT2 meet that have the same modified suspensions or two suspensions taken to the max. I guess what I'm really saying is the GT2 doesn't own that suspension. It can and has been utilized on a turbo. If the arguement is the GT2 suspension is a better suspension, then your arguement is correct. If the arguement is the suspension is only available on a GT2, then the arguement is incorrect. The real question is 2wd versus AWD.
I don't believe that question was really answered in this shootout in regards to the track contest.

Chad,
Your statement is only partially true. The GT3-spec (GT3R) uprights (wheel carriers) on the GT2 do not and cannot fit on a 996 Turbo.
According to certain expert sources and the pictures I have seen of your suspension, it does not appear you have them either. A RWD upright simply hasn't been proven to bolt on to an AWD setup, period. Now as for whether wheel carriers with better suspension mounting points are available for the 996 Turbo, currently they do not exist as far as I know, but they may be coming out in the near future thanks to a suspension guru that would love to put these specs on his Turbo.
Don't believe me? Ask TRG to show you a GT3-R/RS/RSR upright vs. yours.

A lot of people resent me for saying it, frankly I think they're in denial or trying to rationalize keeping their Turbos. The Turbo is great for a lot of things, but for overall performance and feel, I just love that GT2.
Unless you have Chad's will and willingness to spend lots and lots and lots of money, it is cost prohibitive to try to convert your suspension to the point where it will be streetable yet on the same plane as a GT2.

Tyson,
Maybe I am still in denial...but I do not think that your statement is undeniably the case. We will soon find out...

If you do, it might be a very expensive test drive. It will make you dump your turbo and lose money on all those mods. It's what happened to me!

Unfortunately, you are correct. It is expensive, however not as extensive as my prototype. Many have followed and saved money through our trial and error.
Back to the discussion. I hope to present, sometime in early 2005 a 996tt with not only the throttle body shutoff defeated but also the PSM thrusthold limits raised. If this is successful, we will be looking for the fastest road GT2 to run against on a track as a comparison.

I also heard he won by a good amount...
