Porsche noob looking for help

Hi guys I am fairly new to Porsches but lately I cannot see one on the road without getting excited and jealous!! I use to own Corvettes but I think I am done with them for now. I had a 2008 supercharged LS3 that had 700hp and it was a fun car but I think the Porsche bug has bit me hard. Right now I would love to pick up a mint used 997 turbo but it's a bit out of my budget : (

Therefore my choices are just wait and save my money and when the time is right purchase or look at a model more around my budget. I started to see some of the 996 Turbo cars that had the X50 package and quite frankly they are gorgeous. My question to you guys is as follows is it possible to get a 996 Turbo X50 with an auto or triptronic? I ask because I had a forklift accident and the clutch is really not an option.

Also how do the 996 X50 cars compare t the current stock 997 model? Do you think its possible to find a very mint X50 car for around 50-55k with low miles or am I just setting myself up for dissapointment? Thank you guys for any info you can provide.

I'm sure you could find one in a tiptronic. For the most part, I believe people favor the manuel over the Tip in the 996 market.

The 997 Turbo is obviously a better choice if you had the money. Newer technology. However the X50 is only 30hp shy of its new 997 brother. However, the 997 carries a whole load of options like PASM and VTG that doesn't come in the 996 if your interested in that kind of thing.

x50 is nothing to be amazed by a simple bolt on intake exhaust and you have achieved x50, when u mod you will quickly surpass x50 levels

just find a clean 996TT in the color combo u want with good history.

automatic in the porsche world is called Tip or Tiptronic and yes its a good transmission most are all about the 6speed but the Tip is great there are a few 800+ tip cars running around.

low miles isn't always the greatest thing on these cars but generally is better. service history is more important.

i picked up my 6sp 2001 31k miles with mods for 44,900 so you can do it there are a few nice cars here on speed forsale right now

x50 migh bring 1-2k in price when selling but as for perfromance its not anything amazing

I have a pretty fast TIP. Many will vouch for it. What's your budget?

Yup, the Tips are a good choice. Only for track use I would go for a manual.
