Any recommendations for a good porsche mechanic in San Antonio, TX

I'm in the processing of buying a car which will need a 30K service right away. I quite like the local porsche dealer and their techs, however their service schedule is costly. I've been quoted a shade under $2K for this, the majority of which are plugs.

Anyone can recommend a good place which will tackle the plugs on a TT?

The guys here are great! But do yourself a big favor and make contact with Akram in Houston. He is one of the owners of motorwerks houston and is a Protomotive certified tech. If you ever have plans to mod your car, Akram is the only one to trust in TX imo.

Last year he turned my stock 996tt into a Proto650 car and it runs perfect at the drag strip, road course or as a DD. I believe you can reach him at Akram@mwhouston.com or just google his co name and tell him Tom sent you.

If you need any other help shoot me a pm and your cell # and I will give you a call. PS-Akram worked many years at a Houston Porsche dealer so his shop does all maint on P cars and many others.

Bring it to Austin to Roger Beasly. Tell them Kino Sent you, you will receive the highest quality service period. I had over 300 hours of work done with them, ZERO issues. Danny the shop forman is very knowledgeable from suspension install and alignment to motor rebuild to diagnosing just about anything.

Good luck!

I agree with Hollywood, Akram is the best engine builder in Texas period.

Oh. To be perfectly honest, I'd rather not drive great distances for what is supposed to be a routine service.

Jones Autowerks is the place to go in San Antonio.... there is no one else even close for maintenance outside of the dealer.

They are just east of the airport of I410. The Jones's (father and son) were the original Porsche dealer in SA, and have been writing articles for the PCCA on maint, repair, race prep, etc. for like 30 years. I had them work on my 944 Turbo S & 996TT when required at significant savings to the dealer, and I got to see a bunch of sweet race motors out of the car in various states of rebuild. It's more of a mom and pop Porsche shop with a large dog wandering around the bays/office and multiple porsche exotics out back (964, 993s, 996s, RS americas, Turbos, Carrera RS, 356's etc.) For those that know what it takes to do a proper rebuild on an Offenhauser- these guys do it all the time. The last time I was there they were completing a 356 (attached) from the ground up.
