Stock Blow off Valve

is the blow off valve swoosh normal on a stock turbo?

Sounds like a blown Bosch DV. Either change to billet or put in the HKS BOV from SP Engineering or Akkurat.

OKHJOON190, we have a special going right now that gets you the Evo billet DV's and our EVO silicone "F" hose for $475. This set up will solve all of those problems! If you have any questions please PM me or e mail me at mmyers@evoms.com

They do if you run 30PSI lol...What do you mean they don't make any noise?

Just to back Mike up... the upgraded hose is a nice piece and doesn't tear at all like the stock unit.

the blowoff valve sound is very cool, however, it is a bit ricey, as most of the ricers have a big one on their WRX/EVOs.

venting to the atmosphere is inefficient, venting back into the intake is better from a performance perspective.

He is right...but the sound is so damn addictive! I really love the turbo XS RFL. That thing is LOUD. Another cool one if you want a cool sounding BOV is the HKS super sequential.

Both are correct, in some cases the BOV can cause a hesitation between shifts, most noticeable in the lower gears.

I think that statement is a gross oversimplification. It depends on how your plumbing, MAF, throttle body, ECU, etc. are all setup.

That's why you reprogram the ECU and move the MAF downstream of the Turbos... for instance.

I miss the sound of my HKS BOV's... thought about doing it to the GT2 but haven't gotten around to it.

Used to have them on my Skyline GTRs.

1. They affect the AFR and can cause engine stalling.

2. They're very ricer

3. They make you sound like a Greyhound bus.

I have the HKS BOV in my 996TT - it's just OK. I thought I would love the sound like in 2Fast 2 Furious, but since I have a TIP, I don't have perfect control of the sound like on a 6-speed.

The ECU needed about 50-100 miles to recognize the change and remap itself. Whenever I full throttled the car during this "learning" period I got MAJOR hesitiation...almost as if the engine was skipping a beat.

I don't think it sounds too ricer...it actually turns lots of heads because they don't expect that sound from a Porsche.
