2003 turbo vs GT-R
2003 turbo vs GT-R
Ouch! I just got spanked by a GT-R on the freeway. I bought a 2003 turbo about 6 months ago. It was modified by Evo Motorsports in Arizona a few years ago. It now has 18k miles. It has brake, suspension, clutch upgrades and a GT640 engine package with headers, exhaust (stock intercoolers). How do I get to 600-700 rwhp? Where do I go from here without breaking the bank again??? I'm in Dallas. Anyone around here?
GTR had to be very modded...I've been in stock GTRs and up top, they won't pull as hard as a 650 car...

a grandma can drive the new GTR fast, it feels like a cross between playing video games and driving a mercedes. Just be happy you're having more fun in a car that's IMO purer to motorsport. But if "fun" is beating other cars... time to spend more money. Power to weight ratio, Im guessing you can't be far off. I bet at very high speeds the P would excel. dangerous though...
At least you dont have to change gearbox oil after the run
will be intresting to see when datsun sorry Nissan will adress this problem ;-).
GTR is a nice car but it has a few drawbacks weight and the gearbox seems to be a weak link, the temp the gearbox oil have just after a few laps on the track. Is like a PS3 on wheels .

The transaxle on the GTR isn't really weak (few transmissions have failed, only those have been very well publicized). It just can't take repeated and abusive launches. It's an amazing car. Weighs two tons and is fast and quick not to mention a great handling gem. All for ~$80K new. Time will tell...
Having said that, I'm shocked a 650HP 996TT lost to it.
