Turbo S Cab "What's it worth?"
I found a really clean 2005' triple black Turbo S Cab with 16,000 miles. The car is a loaded up six speed. Can anyone tell me what its worth!!!

Six months ago I bought a 2005 996 turbo S cab with a tip and 26k miles for $64k. Mine did not have the hardtop (adds about $600) - otherwise was loaded with all options. MSRP was $159,000

I have seen them as low as mid 60's up to upper 70's, check ebay type in 05 porsche turbo S there are several on there now for sale?
|
A black coupe with full Aero and cabon with MSRP of $159K sold last week for $70K (ish) and had ~9K miles -- two owner non CPO.

Thanks for the input guys!! I will check out ebay and continue to ask around. I think it's a good deal at $68K.

Watch out for all of the fake 05 Turbo S's out there.

low 60s depending upon mileage.. seen some creep even lower. Amazing buyer's market right now.

robertp - I am curious about your comment regarding "all those fake 05 turbo S's out there". Only a few (less the 200 non S turbo's were manufactured in 2005 and those were not sold in the US. Is someone taking 04 and older cars and trying to sell them as 05's?

Robertp - interesting but you may have some of your facts a little confused. The last 2005 turbo S's were built the week of June 23 2005. I know this because mine was one of the last 10 and it was manufactured on June 23, 2005. I have the Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche. Production of 2005 turbo's began in July/August of 2004 with about 250 total standard 2005 turbo's and about 1550 2005 turbo S's (cab and coupe). Five 2004 turbo S models were also manufactured and the very end of the 2004 model run. About 1800 2005 NA units were manufactured with most being 4S coupes or cabs as I understand. My source is Adrian Streather's book "The Essential 996 Companion".

Here is a thread that talked about all 996TT production numbers. Of the turbos that were produced in 2005, only a few hundred were turbo S NA cars.

Robertp - Perhaps I was not clear - the numbers I quoted were for the entire world wide run of 996 Porsche's for the model year 2005. It is quite possible that the number delivered to NA are as stated in the attached thread. The attached thread did not distinguish between S and normal turbo's. The next time you are at a large gathering of Porsche's - say Hershey or a Parade just try to find a 2005 Turbo - it will be difficult and you will find many more turbo "S" type. As an example at Hershey in 2009 there were 2 2005 turbo "S's" and no 2005 turbo's. It is easy to check via the VIN number.
Typically at the end of a model run Porsche likes to "use up" the last bit of parts and so it seems they had lots of X-50 kits on the shelf and so they built a lot of "S's" in 2005. They did the same thing on the 993 in the last years of 97/98 and that is why they built the 993 S and 4S - they had lots of wide body units left from building turbo 993's and just created the S and 4S. I'm not trying to upset anyone - just want to try to gather as much info as I can, verify what I think is correct and share as appropriate. Since I have one of the last 2005 turbo S's manufactured I have a special place in my heart for that model. |
