Great save.. Sorry to see the car in that kind of shape, but I'm sure it will be back to it's old self soon.

great job keeping control at that speed, very nice driving

considering you had a blowout at speed the damage to the car and to you could have been much much worse

Glad to hear that you and the car are OK Tom, looks like it could have been much worse, especially at Daytona.

thanks all for the input, I appreciate it.
Hoosier has determined that it was a puncture after examining the tire.

several laps earlier a Cup car lost its door and rear bumper and the CF shattered all over the front straight. seems as this caused multiple punctures that race?

Tom,
I'm glad you are ok. Watched it in Video not that scarely. But blow up at 170 mph in curve, a lot of serious thing could happen. Nice control.

Uuufff, slight pucker factor there but very nice job controlling the car Tom. I'm glad you weren't hurt and your car doesn't look that bad considering.

Yeah well that's the easiest thing to say - shy away from responsibility? I would seek second opinions from experts just because. You don’t want this happening again. Jesus man, lucky you were. Take it easy.

very scary blowing a tire at those speeds. you handled it very well! Glad you're ok Tom, were all the cars running Hoosiers? If not, were the other cars that were running with a different manufacturer having the same problems?

Tom,
Glad there were no walls involved and mostly cosmetic damage which will, of course, be expensive. How much wing were you running? I suspect not much.

I had the same tire blow out in the esses at Road Atlanta last weekend. It was on the inside at the juncture of the sidewall and the surface that contacts the track. Just a hole about 2" X 3". No evidence of anything rubbing before the incident. It's now a little messy on the inside since I had to run it flat for awhile. A couple of crew members for the Farnbacher Loles 87 car looked at it and said it looked like a defective carcass. I'm going to send it to Hoosier and see what they say. I'm going down one size on the rears to the 305/645R18.
