How to replace headlight switch? - Parking and tailights don't come on
How to replace headlight switch? - Parking and tailights don't come on
Both front parking lights and both taillights stopped working. Fuses are ok. So I'm guessing it's the headlight switch.
I followed part of the Renntech DIY thread on replacing the ignition switch that nicely shows pics of how to remove the 3 screws and take the left front vent off so that one can access the headlight switch. The DIY was nice in that it showed the trick of getting the light switch **** off (small flat screwdriver, stick it in with the blade parallel to the shaft and the **** pops out).
I can get at the round light switch now, but it's stuck on the vent assembly. I removed the big nut. But even with a reasonable amount of force, I can't get the switch off of the vent assembly. I feel if I apply any more force, something will break.
Any advice?

Solved.
Ok. So it's a German version of a Chinese puzzle...
After removing the big nut the holds the light switch to the front bezel (that contains the symbols for the various lights), you SLIDE THAT BEZEL OUT by about 1/8 to 1/4 of an inch. Yep, it slides out, thought it's not obvious it does. Grip it with 2 or 3 fingers on the inside of the hollow part that was occupied by the ****. One of the purposes of the bezel seems to be to lock the light switch from turning left and right. After sliding out that bezel, the light switch is free to turn and it take just a few degrees of clockwise turn to free it. Note the position of the light switch because it can be placed in 180 degrees wrong (sort of, thought the bezel likely won't go back if you put in the light switch wrong).
When putting in the replacement switch, slide it in and turn counterclockwise a few degrees until you feel it click/lock in. Then slide the bezel back in to lock the light switch from turning.
Comment/judgement: Hey, Porsche, this light switch lock mechanism didn't need to be so tricky did it???

So the light switch was fine. Lots of time wasted...
