Brake Question....

So I've been asked a question regarding the placement of calipers on disc brakes. As to why they are placed the way they are.

Calipers on the front are at the face towards the rear of the car, calipers at the rear face toward the front of the car.

Anyone know why that is?

Thanks in advance,
Cliff

I actually don't know... not a trick question. My thoughts were internal line routing shorter to the brake booster/master cylinder.

Thanks for the reply.

I think it has to do with the push pull theory. Think about the work they are doing and how they are doing it and then imagine the calipers on the other way...To say it another way, if you drive in reverse all the time your brakes would work better if the calipers were on the back side...

Almo had the right answer. More weight closer to the center of gravity.
