Thumbs up Going to Strip on Weds

This Weds, Sean AKA Jeru, Adrian and Me will be going to Moroso for test and tune. Any tips for dragging the TT? Anyone else interested in the South Florida area let me know. Damn I don't have Pete to chime in here and flame. What kind of times do you think I will see? Thoughts and feedback!!

Duane, Remember to get a good launch, you need to have PSM off rev it to around 5K and side step the clutch, maybe a slight feather if you feel wheels spin or hopping. I'm thinking low 11's. But it's been pretty hot in Fla so maybe mid 11's.

Hey Duane,

If it's your first time etc... just worry about staging correctly. Trigger the first staging light then creep forward, stop and get yourself ready. I would ignore the lights first time around... don't try and break off the best reaction time etc... or about beating some open headers domestic that so loud you can't hear yourself think in the other lane. It's a lot to just try and launch right etc.. so just focus on doing that.

Also just be prepaired for them to boot you off for running 11.99 or lower without a proper roll bar If there's a 60 foot counter watch for that. If you launch anything around 1.9 or less then go for it. But if you do a 2.1 or worse I wouldn't waste time breaking into the 11s for that

Good luck man!

Oak, Can you elaborate what you mean by side stepping the clutch?

Sharkey, what is the the 60 foot counter? And how do you know what your launch is?

Hi Duane,

At the 60 foot marker most tracks have a big display on the side as you go by indicating the time it took for your car to pass through the first 60 feet of the 1/4mile. Basically if you get a poor launch (2.1 seconds+) I never bother gunning it through all the way.. I look over and when I see sub 2 second 60 foot times (aka good launches) I then gun it to the end. The 1/4mile is really all about getting a good launch. Every tenth in the 60 foot is worth about 3-4 tenths at the end for your ET.

I didn't notice if you had a roll bar hence I was recommending you don't brake into the 11s with a poor 60 foot and then get kicked off the track Nail a sub 2.0 second 60 foot and then make us proud with a 11.2 at 128mph or something...

Duane, while having the clutch depressed and the heel slightly over left so your foot is lightly cantered to the inside, let the clutch pedal slide off the inside ball of your foot by rotating your feet to the left by using your heel as a pivot point, you can control the amount of clutch slip by the speed of which you let the clutch pedal roll off the foot.

Just an FYI tho, you may get away with it but some places will require you have a five point (not four) with a side bar on the drivers side. You can look up the specs on nhra's site. Also bring a SA-2000 helmet and a fire jacket if you can. That way they will at least see you meet most if not all of the requirements. You'll get at least one pass before they hassle you as they don't realize our cars run 11s pretty easily

Most of all have fun!

Hey Duane,

Not that much really. Chip, straight pipes, DVs, filter for power and then some hybrid billet turbos on the way Best it ran was in Feb when it did 11.6 @ 123 and 11.64 @ 123.7 but I had the stock exhaust on back then. The air temp was nice and low though at around 59-61 degrees. I don't know what it'll run once I get ze new turbos in and retuned but we'll see

My turbos for that run were K16s (the stock ones) and I was running 1.0/.9 bar (bounces a little) back then with the upsolute chip, which is now being custom tuned.

PS I have other suspension, roll bar etc.. mods but those were just HP mods. I supposed weight reduction counts too
