Don't ever use a broker to move anything - I speak from experience. It's always the same story. Sorry you're in this mess. I know your pain, but in my case it was a moving line holding hostage everything I owned at the time except for a gun and a car. Good luck and keep us informed.

Yes, I do have a full contract with the broker – I would not have done it any other way. However the contract is very vague when it comes to delivery times. The language used is similar to “We can’t guarantee delivery within any timeframe, blah, blah, blah”. What can I say? I didn’t go with the cheapest quote, I relied on feedback published on reputable Web sites such as this, and yet this is what I got. I anything I encourage the readers of this thread to beware of these two companies.

I agree with your suggestions: I will inspect every inch of the car prior to delivery (whenever that will occur!). Luckily the seller took lots of pictures at pick-up time.

Sad story indeed!

I suggest that this Forum make a stick of Company who we should all stay away from and this one be added to the list! I think that we all need to stick together to help each other out so by haveing a directory of Suppliers or Services that we cannot trust it would be a great asset to the Pcar community.

They are quick to judge members who post things that they do not want said but i feel that we should all be made aware of problems such as this.

i hope you get your car soon and start to enjoy it as life is to short to have to pull teeth with people such as these.

Happy Thanksgiving

Update - sad story part II

Update:

Today on Wednesday before Thanksgiving obviously no one is answering the phones. I suspect the same will happen on Thanksgiving (rightly so, everyone needs some time off to spend with their family), the day after Thanksgiving (because it’s… the day after Thanksgiving) and I was just informed by the recording on the Lamb Transport dispatch phone line that they will reopen on Monday 30 November. So until then no updates, no nothing. Just great.

Sooo… you are thinking: call up your broker. I did: left a message but no response. Were you expecting anything different?

Listen to me: stay away from 1st (First) Class Auto Transport as well as Lamb Transport.

Happy Thanksgiving to all.

I'd be tempted to file a stolen car report - does it have a Lojack by any chance?

Update to the update

Ah, the power of the Internet. Apparently I was lucky enough to run into a Web site that – as it turns out – is the bread-and-butter of most car transport companies. That is, where customers looking for transport go look up carriers based on reviews left by other customers.

Within hours from posting my scathing review of both 1st Class Auto Transport and Lamb Transport I have received a phone call from the broker who specifically went to the his office today to deal with my “emergency”. I will leave everyone’s dignity intact, but let me just say that I was implored to remove or rectify my review if a favorable resolution could be cooked up.

Suddenly my phone started ringing again! First the broker (as I described) and then 30 minutes later even the truck driver called me! Imagine that! To make a long story short now I have a firm delivery day on Friday (day after Thanksgiving) – well… when I say firm I mean that I was told it could be Saturday (I guess one can’t teach a donkey to dance, but at this point who’s counting…?).

More later as this saga unfolds...

...tempting but - reading the contract's fine print - as no delivery day/time/window can be guaranteed I suppose one could say that neither broker nor carrier is (yet) at fault...

I am also sorry to hear about the transport nightmares. I had a great experience but still worried the entire time mine went from NJ to CA. I used a private one horse carriage type transporter who only had my car and it was enclosed. He took pictures (even milage on car) and sent them to me along the way and called me every day with an update.

You get what you pay for as painfull as it sounds.

With today's car market the transportation industry is hurting. My brother in law is in the transportation business. Gas is expensive and orders get canceled all the time as deals on cars fall through. When you have a semi which holds 11 cars, driving across 3 states to drop off one is not really proifitable and sometimes you have to wait untill all "seats" are taken.

If you want someone to take their time to pamper your car and do an one off delivery hire independent enclosed shipment, but expect to pay for it.

True. I once had a car shipped from coast to coast. I searched for the cheapest quote out there and took it. Upon arrival I had a bent wheel from improper strap placement and a soaked interior (they left a window slightly open when it rained). Long story short, it was a pretty big mess which led to a pointless argument with a truck driver that spoke very little english.

When time came to have my 996TT shipped, I made sure it was shipped enclosed from a reputable transporter. A premium was paid but it was well worth it...

I have found that Gran Turismo Motorsports is a great auto transport service. Point-to-point, no intermediate city stops. They are based in FL.

I totally agree! Unfortunately a few of the bad apples are board sponsors What to do then?

I hope you get your car today in good shape. Make sure to post some pictures.

I only use InterCity. They are great. I hope to see a positive post that they did deliver your car, either today or tomorrow. I would seek legal advice on what your rights are in this case. Sounds like one step from car theft. Good luck.
