Hello guys, just bought an '01 911 turbo with 47K miles on it. I also own an M6 but am testing the water with the Porsche. My nearest dealer is in Dallas-Ft. Worth (5 hrs away), so I'm really stepping out on this one. I come from a family who's own 4 911's back in the 70's (E, S, T, and SC), a 944 turbo and I personally owned a 916 back in college. Just wanted to get back into them.

Planning on selling the M6 and getting a new 7 series sometime soon.

One thing that I wish somebody could steer me towards is a reputable mechanic/tuner in the DFW area (or closer) that could help me keep this thing running and maybe a few hop ups. Our local bimmer dealer has one mechanic that can change oil and minor stuff, but I'd like to know somebody I can go to for any major things that will inevitably pop up.

Thanks a bunch for your help...

John

Congratulations!

If you hit the search function on here, you will find nearly anything you need to work on your car yourself and I am certain that someone from your area will give the thumbs up on a mechanic for you.

Beautiful car. How do you like it so far?

Welcome aboard and enjoy the car. I have heard good things about RUF in DFW but I am sure others will chime in shortly.

I like it a bunch so far, but have only driven it about 100 miles around town. It's alot different from the M6. More of a sports car vs a grand touring car. A little rougher ride, noisier, much better grip, bout the same acceleration, etc. I'll be able to say more in a few weeks when I've been around it some more. I had to use the manual just to fill up a couple of days ago! hilarious

Congrats! That is one sweet ride. Be sure to post some video clips when you get a chance.

Congrats!

I take it you picked it up from Alderson Benz in Lubbock, TX?

I spoke to the prior owner about it before he traded it in. Great buy for the miles.

I flip the gas nozzle upside down to fill mine.....so the hose is going "up"....fills much better. This and many more facts are in here..

Good luck!

Congrats! I have an 01 with 40k miles that I have had for over 4 years now, and mostly trouble free. The only real "repair" was a CEL engine sensor. Enjoy it, they are great cars.
