Anyone done a Remote Car Starter on their turbo?

I really want to install one but I'm not sure what is required to bypass the security?

I see that the porsche kits require a spare key to be installed in the transponder box, but I'm wondering which part of the key is actually responsible for the security as maybe there is a way of me to get it to work without buying the complete key as they are pricey.

I had one on my diesel truck....I think it was a Clifford...but I believe they've gone out of business. It was great in the hot summers, you could fire up the truck while you were finishing off lunch in a restaurant and by the time you got outside, the interior was cool. It you try to get in the car or touch the brake or clutch pedal without keying the entry code, the engine would die. Also nice if you want to warm it up on a cold morning. I believe the Porsche electronics are more sophisticated than my diesel's system and may present a problem....and I haven't heard of any Porsche folks installing such a system.

I've looked into it and it shouldn't be too bad. The tricky part is that it requires two relays as there is two seperate wiring harnesses for parking lights. I'm just trying to see if there is a cheaper way than getting a whole new key programmed to the car since it's just gonna be sitting in a bypass box.

I've just installed 2 on my DD and my GF's DD. If I do one on the turbo I'll do a DIY for all you tiptronic guys out there.

Adam, which one did you buy for your DD? I am looking at some remote starters for my Jeep, any suggestions and which one would be a DIY.

Best buy has no installers available until Jan 10..

I bought a Bulldog Security RS82B at wallmart for about $45. Comes with the bypass device that most don't. I installed it on both nissan Quests and it works flawlessly. The firts one took me 5 hours and the 2nd about 1-2.
