New car arrived!! A couple questions...

Well, it arrived yesterday, 3 days early!

Walking up to my new to me 2002 Seal Grey Turbo with GT2 front bumper and a Techart Exhaust put the biggest smile on my face. Not quite benj CGT smile, but something close to it :P

The car is more beautiful in person than it was in pictures; I just love the color.

Firing up that car for the first time, the noise was just INCREDIBLE. Coming from the 2001 S4 which I daily drive the sound was intoxicating. An engine and an exhaust I can actually hear? What is this??

Driving home I remembered why I've always loved Porsche's and why everytime I drive one I get an ear-splitting grin on my face; the stearing feedback, the quick response, the grip, and with the TT the outrageous power!! Having spent a good amount of time driving the original 996 GT3, I was a bit concerned that the heaviness and understeer of the TT would get to me, but so far I think my fears were misplaced and aside from the weight, most of that could be fixed with a few tweeks.

Sadly, it was raining, so I couldn't get on the car too much My better judgement prevented the devil in me from putting the loud pedal all the way down, well, at least more than once!

I got on the car once or twice and my GOD it's fast. Having turbo's and a ton more torque make theTurbo feel a lot faster than the GT3, and I have to admit, I like the feeling even if linear NA power might be better for the track. To me, tt felt something like this - 2krpms, 3krpms, 4krpms, getting fast woahhh, 4.5k rpm's wow, sounding VERY fast, 5k rpms, holy **** I can't move from my seat, 5.5k, 6k, everything is warping at me like lightspeed, 6.5k lift, brake, take deeep breath. Wow.......

So, needless to say, with very little seat time I am quite happy.

Now, when the car arrived I noticed a couple of things that I want to fix because they will drive me crazy.

1) The floor mats - blech, they're gross. So I want to get new ones. I called the dealership and they said they couldn't get me the exact same ones that came with the car, but they had the standard Porsche insignia floormats for $120 per pair. Is there anyway to get the ones the car was ordered with? It's just the regular grey mats.

2) The Exhaust is about 3/4 of an inch higher on the right side whereas the left side is perfectly centered. How much should it cost to have it re-alligned so they are both equally centered?

3) The seats - I want sport seats or less cushy ones than the supple leather ones this car came with. Anyone have some Grey sport seats for sale? Any ideas on where to get some? I want to keep the interior stock in terms of colour and feel; I don't want it to be apparent I've done anything, but I could use some more support.

For now I think that's all. The last thing...how the heck do I program the seat? I know; stupid question, but I can't find the manual, it's in the mail, and the seat goes to a different position everytime I unlock the car...it's driving me nuts! :P

Thanks!

Congratulations!

When you have the seat set to your position, hold down M and the button with a pictogram of a key.

Congrats Justin, I just went through that exact experience when I picked up my 01 Seal Grey TT last month. I was supposed to call the dealer on my drive back from Chicago to Utah and let him know how I liked the car. I was home a week before remembering to call and thank him...I still have the grin on my face today.

As for the sport seats, that's one of the reasons I drove to Chicago to get the car, I love 'em. Hopefully you can get them with the crests, I've seen a few sets on Ebay over the last year.

And...I need to adjust one of my exhaust tips as well. Right height, but a little crooked.

Congrats Justin! Have you considered the GT3 racing buckets? They're MUCH more supportive and communicative than the sport seats and will save you 64 lbs. I just sold my grey ones less than two weeks ago for cheap :-( Unless someone else drives the car - especially often, why the heck do you need memory or power?

Memory seats?

Adjust the seat for your driving position, ignition on, place shifter in reverse, press button M and 1 at the same time. seat position memorized and pass side mirror will tilt down automaticlly when backing.
