Has anyone done a one mile shoot out run like the texas mile and if so what did your car run? I am wondering what it will take to make a 996 TT break 200 in this distance. My goal is to go 200+ and I dont want to waste my time so Im looking for your experience. Thanks.

It takes roughly 630-650whp to get a 996TT to 200mph in one mile with calm conditions.

 

I went to the Texas Mile in October and did 200.9 mph. The video below shows one of my runs. Power wise you'll need approximately 650whp. The hardest part is when to stop spending money.

Oh man, you know Scott. Yea your problem is going to be hitting 200 its going to be slowing down from 240!!!

 

If you do a search for Texas Mile you'll find TONS of information - including some interesting findings about what occurs with the Porsche sunroof at those speeds :-O Glad mine has no sunroof :-P

I was close to the magic number (198 & change). I had an EVOMS GT700 + supporting mods on race gas. I only had one run since I did not have required equipment to go over 190 mph.
