996TT W/ Fabspeed (Removal Of Cats?)

So I have a modded 996TT as you all know, and it came with a Fabspeed exhaust system. I don't know which generation, so I can't tell you which sized cell cats it has. A friend of mine said I would see improved performance if I removed the cats? Has anyone done this before? What are the benefits? Negatives? Is this going to improve performance? Reduce turbo lag? Make my car shoot flames? What about passing emmissions when it comes time for inspection? Any CEL issues? Where can I get this work done, any local exhaust shop? Do I need anything fancy or just straight pipe welded in place?

Is your set up currently not loud enough?...hehehe! I am already afraid of your current loudness! Do it and I can't wait to hear in person

If you remove the cats and the CEL comes on is there a mod. you can do to trick the computer so the CEL won't illuminate?

I'm not too concerned about the CEL coming on. I can have that programmed around. I'm more concerned about how it will change the sound, if it will increase performance, if I can maybe through a little flame here and there, etc..

You won't pass emissions without cats. There are members here that have noticed a DECREASE in performance with this mod. (vividracingtx for one)

As I recall he first went straight pipes WITH cats and it was OK. Then he gutted the cats and lost the brake boosting feature and his 60-130 times were not better and almost worse. maybe he'll chime in, but he's busy on another thread bragging about beating a Honda...
