Clear Bra vs Vinyl Wrap

hey guys - -

i'm looking to do a 'clear bra' for my 996, which has a GT2 frontend on it. Since this would be a custom job, i was wondering what the cost difference / quality difference would be in using a clear vinal wrap instead?

any thoughts appreciated.

best

I know the previous owner of my car did the 3M clear bra and it was about $1200-$1500 and included front bumper, both mirrors and front and rear wheels well edges. It has been on for about 3 years and is just starting to show some rock chips. No real discoloration yet, although you CAN see that it has a bra. I think there are members here that did complete wraps for $3000 to $5000?

clear bra is for protection
vynil wrap is for asthetics (changing the color of the car without repainting it)
completely different uses, and very different in pricing...

thanks steve - but if i just 'wrap' the front end in clear vinyl, could you achieve the same effect but more cost effectively? i assume it will boil down to the clear bra material is thicker / better than the vinyl and provide better protection in the long run.

as i have been researching, i haven't been able to determine the mil thickness of common vinyl wrap yet.

Clear vinyl is not for protection and will not prevent damage from rocks. You would be wasting your money puttign it on... plus its a pain to take off... which you will have to do very quickly since rocks will tear it up.
