What flash do I have?
What flash do I have?
Hello all...I've established through searching and talking to people that my car is flashed for sure. I picked it up used about 8 months ago. The paperwork shows that Pioneer Porsche removed exhaust, diverter valves and things like that to put it back stock to sell, but I think it's still flashed.
Here's why: stock '02 996 TT
1. car will hold 1.0 bar all day in 3rd through 6th.
2. it will spike to 1.1 bar in cold mornings without pushing hard at all.
3. The sheets say I have an insane amount of overrevs..sign of flash? I drive it normal for about 2 weeks and retested at Pioneer...more overrevs.
It doesnt misfire or anything...I'm running 91 craptane. I do not push the car hard at all. Just the occasional sprint on the I-5.
Question:
1. Is it safe to let run at 1.0 bar?
2. how can find out what flash is in it?
thanks for the help,
Donald

Congrats on likely having a flashed car. Seems silly that the dealer would go through the aggravation of re-installing factory parts and not do the easiest thing, and flash it back to stock too. Really no way to find out who flashed it, unless the previous owner knows. If you can get in touch with him, he may know and tell you, Worth a call, worst he can say is
"I don't know"?
"I don't know"?
Hmmm..
I thought most tuners imprint data coding with their information on the flash? If you use a particular software to edit and manipulate the data, save it, then flash it, doesn't it store basic information on the flash like when it was saved, which program was used to edit it?

maybe the dealer put you in contact with the previous owner who may know. Sounds like you have a generic off the shelf champion, giac, etc tune. you should be ok.
I wonder, can Durametric read flash codes? if so, would that give a hint?
