GT2 wing interferes w/ auto-dim mirror?

I bought a 03TT w/ a factory GT2 wing/bumper. The wing seems to be at the EXACT height required to block the majority of headlights to the rear view mirror auto-dim sensor (so that it doesn't dim.) Only trucks directly behind me set it off. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a way to get the mirror to dim manually? Turning the 'auto' button off just makes it go clear all the time.

Is there a way to get it to simply dim w/ the headlights being on?
Or, it is easy to replace w/ a manual mirror and not lose the auto-interval wiper function?

If almost sounds like the auto dimming isn't working. Usually the dimming occurs not because of headlights but because of the ambient light level. The sensor detects when it is dark out and engages the dimming function.

Its triggered by the sensor on the other side of the 'auto' led. When headlights shine on it, the rear and driver side mirrors dim.

Drive faster so the headlight are farther behind you.

I wish there was a way to manually activate the dimming as well. I think the tint on my rear window (20%) blocks out enough light to keep the mirrors from dimming. This is not a big deal for the rear view but sometimes I get the glare from the side views and I wish they would dim.

Yes, I know I can always drive faster, but sometimes you get that jerk who is oblivious to their high-beams being on, and I want him to pass so I can give him a dose of high+fogs.
