Sorry guys!
If you looked closely at a CGT in person, the Ford does NOT compare, if quality and technical wizardry is of interest to you...

The Ford GT is an awsome machine, this is a minor glitch. Remember, Porsche is not without it's own problems; RMS, PCCB, and Lord knows what on the CGT.
Earlier this yr I almost bought one for 167K, should've pulled the trigger. I just couldn't see paying anything over sticker, then they said the delivery would be delayed 6-8mo bc of the cylinder head problem, at that point I bailed and spent the cash on my house instead.
BTW, it's First On Race Day, Ford has a greater racing tradition with more victories than any import manufacturer, including porsche. The GT would spank most F cars and high end P cars without much trouble. Let's not get too arrogant about our Porsches guys. Off my soapbox.

FIRST ON RACE DAY- They won the last 2 NASCAR champiosnhip and countless sportscar and Formula 1 races---- one of the most famous engine builders was FORDS Cosworth
---------------------------------------------------------
Lets not be car snobs............Porsche has BIG issues with reliability as does Mercedes, BMW, and etc
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Porsche 944Turbo front control arms are a disaster............PCCB brakes a disaster------- Rear Main seals.........Porsche basically tells owners to "suck it up!"
--------------------------------------
FORD has no failures on the GT40...........but mentiones upgrades/recalls .................lets not trash them unfairly and be car snobs.
---------------------------------------
What would you guys do if the FORD GT had a MSRP of $85,000 and a 7 year "BUMPER to BUMPER" warranty and FORD was racing and Smoking everyone in SCCA Speedvision World Challenge and competing and doing well against Corvette in ALMS? What is the FORD GT was a convertible?

Track tests have it being competitive with (though absolutely NOT spanking) the GT3RS and Ferrari Stradale (both MSRPs not far off the Ford pace). The Ford doesn't want to play any higher up than that or it starts looking silly pretty quickly. It's a great car though and I personally don't understand all the knocking on it just because it's a Ford. Again, my F150 was a lot better thought out than our Cayenne TT and the reliability and relative problems evidences this.

I find it interesting that there have been 150 Ford GT's delivered to customers through November 2004. There have only been 148 CGT's delivered (to the retail public) in the same time. Of course the dealer inventory of CGT's is rather bloated (for $400,000+ vehicle). While the Ford GT is sold out.
Joe, well said, BTW when are you guys coming out with the bypass pipes for a C4S?
Ben, the CGT is a great car, but at least the one I sat in at the dealer had a tad too much plastic interior peices for a 1/2 mil car, JMO
Honestly, even if money was no object, I wouild still take the Ford GT over a CGT or F car. I just like the look better, JM.02

"The recall affects the 448 GTs produced this year. Of those, 289 have been shipped to dealerships, and 106 are in customers' hands."
Not exactly what I call "sold out". As well, the $250K asking price for those 2/3rd of production ain't exactly cheap.
Incidentally, is that 148 CGT customer delivery # worldwide since the Ford GT is about 99% a U.S. only car. Dividing their respective numbers over their addressable markets puts things in perspective almost as much as their respective absolute planned production numbers.
