Rear Decklid Fan

Rear decklid fan hasn't come on since the K24/18g Proto tune. GIAC K16 flash prior, seemed like the fan come on after every drive.

I assume the fan is triggered by a temp sensor, does anyone know what sensor and temp it's triggered at ? Can I monitor the sensor with my Durametric SW ?

I did test the decklid fan with my Durametric SW, and it spins up when I run the diagnostics. No codes.

Should I assume the cooler winter temps, are keeping the engine temp under the threshold ?

I searched and found a few related threads, but no real answer.

Thanks.

I'm not sure if it is year specific or not, but the fan on my '03 runs anytime the engine is running (actually, any time the fuel pump is running). Check the condition of the fuse in location C5. On the '03 model, that fuse is for the "low" fan state. If it's blown (or missing), the fan won't run on low. However, that fuse has nothing to do with the fan running when the engine compartment temp sensor senses a high temp. I believe the trigger point on the temp sensor is about 180 deg (F). The temp sensor is hidden under the area of the Pentosin tank on the right side of the engine compartment. It will be a small black probe about 1/2" in size with a 2-wire plug connector. If you can find the connector, disconnecting it with the engine running (if I recall correctly) should cause the fan to run on "high." That should tell you whether or not you have a problem with the fan itself.

Thanks for the information, that should help me troubleshoot, assuming there is a problem at all Could just be the lower winter temps, as I've only had the car since July.

Thanks Again.
