John, thanks for the PM. I still can't PM. I have a Techart exhaust and coil overs. I don't think it has a flash due to the fact it only produces .7 -.8 bars of boost. I don't think it is an X50 due to the lower boost, but I'm not sure. Is there any ID tags on the turbos?

Anyone else have Ideas for a wish list. If I don't have to spend $ on the trans and the clutch I may do some sensible mods with the $ saved.

So far my list is:
- GT2 Clutch
- Flash
- Maybe turbos but I don't want to the car to have to much turbo lag. Thoughts/ experience??
-Injectors
-Intake
-DV??
-Waste Gate??

Like all of you I don't want to waste money on mods that are not a good fit. My goal is 550 - 600 hp that doesn't kill reliability.

Thanks

Ron,

Are you looking for 550-600 wheel or flywheel HP?

I believe your option codes on the inside of the front bonnet would state "X50", if you had that option. The BorgWarner K24 turbos purchased direct have the number "53249887006" on the right and "53249887005" on the left. Not sure if the OEM ones had the same numbers on them.

On your list of mods, I would lump "turbos, injectors & wastegates" as a package or at least "turbos & wastegates" with injectors optional...depending on turbo choice. For instance, with the K24/18G turbos, you can add them without injectors and run lower boost, so the injectors become optional, but a good thing to do. And you can always add them later.

There are several upgraded turbos that spool very quckly, so in general, I think you can have great power and not worry about too much lag. The K24/18G's are very responsive and produce fantastic power.

I have about 550 AWHP without sacrificing reliability. My car has 104,000 miles on it, I am the original owner and I drive it almost every day, except for winters. I would say you have a ways to go before any reliability problems, but you will require a better clutch as you step up in power, depending on how high you go. For example, the K24/18G level with injectors and additional full supporting mods is rock solid reliable, but definitely requires a good clutch.

550 to the wheels is my goal but have a very responsive car for the track and street. As for the clutch the dealer felt that I may have a HD clutch already installed due to the pedal force. I guess I will see when the trans is out.

Well if the noise you have in the tranny is a lightweight flywheel then most likely u have a more aggressive clutch.

This shows you how to remove the trans, the the 996tt is the same.
If you remove the engine, please make a nice DYI for us with tons of pictures!

Well I finally drop the engine and trans today. It is a bit more work then my SC. But not that bad. So now I need to decide how I'm going to spend my limit budget.

1 - GT2 clutch slave upgrade
Slave looks like it is leaking. See mobile phone photo.

2 -Turbo rebuild and G16 upgrade - flash and FPR

3 - Repair the leaking seal or bushing on the the large shift linkage. It has alot of slop. Anyone else seen this problem? If so, does the box need to be oppened to fix it?

4 - DV upgrade

Any other Ideas for upgrade without going to K24/G16?

Thanks
Ron

While everything is out of the car you may want to do this mod.

I will have to add that to the list. Given all the pop out issue it would be wise. Thanks for the suggestion
