u just need the trim peice...real easy to do..espec since ull have the dash apart.

just make sure you put enough slack on the wires on back and make sure everything is pluged in tightly

Here is a fairly length discussion on the process. I just received my new nav unit yesterday and hope to find time to install it this weekend.

I tried to PM you the link but I don't have enough post yet:mad:

If you search around on renntech and look for post by trieullionaire you should get there. It is a 13 page forum thread with lots of pictures. Or PM me an email and I will send the link to you if you want.

yah i know what u mean...but there wont be any on the dash part...ull see once u start taking stuff apart , that they tried to make it as easy and cheap as possable...explaning y they dont use to many screws mainly clips

To move it to the very bottom you just unscrew it and move it apparently and then you will need this trim piece the thread says -> 996 552 339 00 That guy is also selling an install kit on eBay that appears to GREATLY simplify installation. Here's a linky to one of the kits http://cgi.ebay.com/99-02-PORSCHE-99...item33591055a2

If you want to install the AC controls higher up just below the DIN it requires some mods but nothing that souonded too bad. Apparently it was designed to fit in the bottom if you want but the shifter seems like it would get in the way to me...

What's the mod to fit it in the upper bin of the lower console? I had wanted to do this but the AC control unit seems too tall to fit in the upper bin.

The face plate may be taller, but the bin size should be the same. Not a fan of the RUF interior. Stock 997 looks better.
