Clutch
Clutch
Ok, my clutch slipped @4K in 6th gear – classic sign. First I thought maybe a wheel-spin, wet road being hopeful, tried it again and all ok. Great wheel-spin. Wrong! After 30 miles or so, it happened again, so diagnosis confirmed – clutch. I have few questions...
I found this: http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/pt376_938_-cma81-cmo110-ct351/Porsche/996--911--1997-05/996-TURBO-2000-05/Transmission-Parts/Clutch-Kits--High-Performance
Can someone tell me the difference between them? I am thinking second one for 285, as my car only has 530bhp crank. Or should I reconsider?
Also, if I am careful, how long does the clutch last when it begins to go in such way? I don't want to hotspot my flywheel but need to drive 1000 (motorway miles) to my mechanic as I am abroad and won't trust the local cowboys.
Thanks.

I am running the 88 3082 PP, and 88 1864 disk and happy with the set-up. I spoke directly to a Sachs rep and that was his recommendation for cars in the mid 500 to 600 hp range. The rigid disk works well with the dual mass flywheel. You will have bit stiffer clutch peddle. You should be able to make that trip since it sounds like it's mostly highway miles. Good luck.

Just picked up my car yesterday with a new GT3RS clutch, and the LWFW.
I was hesitant on the LWFW, but OMG - it's such an amazing difference that I was not expecting. I had no idea that the dual mass was gobbling up so much power/drivability.
I was worried about stalling the car all the time, but the tuners talked me into it and I am so happy - the benefit is HUGE!
The new clutch is expected to last double the OEM clutch. Frankly I was shocked at all the stories of clutches going out (no tune, around 20-30k), and within weeks of a new tune adding in power. I make about 540 at the crank and made it about 2 months on a new tune (car has 23k) - I was pissed that I had to replace it, but now I'm in the break-in phase, but super happy with the LWFW.

So I should not keep OEM PP? Better to buy as kit, is this yours?
