yes, unless there is a bad strut, leaking fluid, etc. Ultimately you probably bought them used for a great deal.

Yup, I would and I am (sorry if I outbid you!). I think I got a good deal, since it was the fvd version which I prefer since it specs slightly more robust springs and custom valving that is supposed to be a bit better suited for the track. I agree, cosmetically they look a bit rough, almost like overspray from a cuastic wheel cleaner got on the shock bodies.

If they are not leaking, anything would be better than stock.

My snipe software eff'd up so my bid didn't go in. It's alright though it helped me make another decision. I think you got a good deal and hope they work OK.

You have snipe software? That's awesome! All I do is think hard about the highest I'd pay, wait 'till about 20 seconds to go, place my high bid, and see if it works out. We'll see if everything is as represented. So far the seller seems cool and honest.

i wouldn't put on a used set of pss9's. are you crazy? a new set of pss10's (which are better than pss9's) are selling for 2.5k. the install and alligment will cost you 800 -1000 alone. suspension is a wear and tear item on a car. it's like buying someone's used brake pads or clutch. and those pss9's look way beat up with someone changing out the springs -- who knows if the spring rates are appropriate. buy a new set.

Too late. And yes, I'm "crazy." According to the seller these have 15k miles, and do not leak at all (the shocks have a money-back guarantee if they are not as represented). The seller is in Canada so yes, they are a bit grimey. With that said, I got them for 1.1k, and plan to to the install myself (with a alignment at my independent shop to follow). My car has 75k miles, and the oem shocks needed replacement anyway. My options were new oem (more than 1.1k), new pss10's (2.5k) as you stated, or find used and keep my fingers crossed. I obviously chose the latter, and time will tell if I made a good decision. Plenty of folks on this board have purchased used pss9's/10's and have been very satisfied. And as for the springs, they were not "changed out." They are the FVD pss9's which use a different spring (they are stamped "996 Turbo FVD," so I'm sure the spring rates are appropriate).

Remember you can also get them rebuilt directly thru Bilstein for $125. per shock.

$1100 + $500 = $1600 - still cheaper than new PSS10's at $2500. :-)

why exactly didnt you have a ppi prior to purchase ? if your having one done now it obviously wasnt because you wanted to save the 300 bucks or whatever its costing

buzz i had a good feeling from talking to the seller --- he had owned the car for 9 years (it was one of 5 exotics he had) and put 2k miles on it. the car fax confirmed that. it was black on black with sports seats and i saw a video of the inside and outside. frankly i wanted to take the car off the market for the asking price of $59k. there aren't very many black on black with sports seats that come onto the market and when they do they quickly end up in wilhoits, turspeed, rpm or sloans inventory and the price gets jacked up to 70+. lastly i have an exceptional mechanic i trust and he told me to jump on it and he could fix anything that was related to the engine. we'll see it how it works out. i'll post pics when akram at motorwerks sends me some.
