Tuning...up?

ENGINE TUNING:
For the engine, in relation to performance. The biggest bang for the buck on the 996 turbo's is an ECU program change.....Then a performance cat/muffler...that's it!
Larger blowers will not improve most of the drivable RPM area's especially on the low end, resulting in little/no first, second or even third gear improvement in stop light to stop light drag racing (if that's what you're into). What else (at the moment) is there? An air filter....please!
To this date, I know of no reprograming of ECU's to which the cam timing/lift data has been sucessfully altered for more performance. That is precisely why normally aspirated cars get little or no improvement in reprogramming.
Boost is where everything comes from...............
SUSPENSION TUNING:
Bilstein package is (again) best money spent under the fenders!

Also Porsche does such a damn good job tuning the cars right out of the box I mean, think about it you have a 3.6L naturaly-aspiration flat 6 engine making 320 hp and 270 f-lbs of torque. That is a feat and its why trying to tune it doesnt result in many noticable gains, its already maxed out pretty much. Porsche are the tuning wizards right at the factory

If anything adding 2 turbos and only getting 415 hp (from 320) out of the boot is top considered under-tuning. It explain's why the turbo is so easier to extract the juice from.

Mark,
I swear we have had the conversation on another board. 99% of the cars on these boards are street cars. Driveablity is everything. No one doing anything with cam profile, LOL, better look around. As far as NA cars not getting anything. I wouldn't say 26RWHP and 20WHTQ is nothing on a NA car. Not to mention it makes these changes down low (read:drivability) The different tuners out there all show more TQ then a simple boost change in the mod RPM range (read:drivability) Just like the conversation we had about the 930s. 120 additional TQ at the wheels @3K is drivability. We don't expect your 962 type power, just good drivers that we can use daily. I proudly now have 25K on mine since last Nov and clicking along. Yes, I AX andYes I DE.
