everything from the body down is gt2 components

coilovers, brakes, a arms and spindels and sub frame.

collin, i do like my cars rwd the reason behind this one is cost

130k for a 01 or 02 gt2 plus 70 to 80k in mods

i got this one with 7k miles and 6 year 75k warranty
for just over 100k

total savings around 100k

Everything looks tight on the 996, but don't care for the chicken wire mesh. Cheapens the look of the car. Honda Civic kids do that to their $8K rides.

Did he also change the wheel carriers/uprights and hubs to GT2 spec also? And if so, how did he get them to fit without ripping out the entire drivetrain?

There is a big pick-up point and overall geometry difference between GT2 and Turbo.

I knew Tyson will chime in here. No one's going to tell him they can build a GT2 equivalent for 100k less

Too bad you didn't buy my car but this one is SICK. I love it. Well my car was sold but the deal went south as the buyer backed out on a promise and never came through with the money. So the car is back on the market. I have a friend who is looking at buying it but if you know of anyone local do spread the word. Bring it to Akkurat so they can mod it some more ;-)

later

Fred,

This was on of those deal where you cant pass on it.
For the past 18 month i watched Gene and Dan(speed gallery) built this car
in to a monster, since we talk many times a day
i knew everything he was doing to it. on top
of that he bought me an extended warranty for 6 years.

good luck with your car, i will spread the word

Because you can't...

It's not quite as simple as people think it is. What may "seem" GT2 spec really isn't. Look at what Chad had to go through to do a proper "upgrade" to the suspension!

We did the same thing on my car and Fred's (where we went all out even more) and it's not _that_ bad to do and VERY much worth it. Of course it's not for everyone.

Do I wish I had a GT2 sometimes? You betchya...

Yes, but as I was telling cjv, you can't retrofit the GT3 wheel carriers/hubs to the 996TT, which determine the pick up points. Or have you?

I know that you guys did the ERP links, JRZ or Moton shocks, etc. but it doesn't change the fact that your inherent geometry is different.

That is correct. Of course... Hence I said sometimes I wish I did have a GT2:P

PS You really have that E-Type? Man... one of my all time favorites.

Of course, knowing you Sharky, you could always commission a custom set of 996TT uprights!!!

Hell, why not? You could always sell a set to all your customers... hell even make one for Kirby's Cayenne!!!

Hahah and wrapped in my special duct tape too:P Kirby's Pepper would rock and roll (maybe not roll)....

To be honest, I do not trust myself in a GT2. Not at all... It's too much car for a driver with my level of skill or lack of rather James' 570 foot pounds of torque to the wheels scares the **** out of me. Someday I'll get something similair when I am up to it...
