Fitment of the Roof Transport System and Bicycle Support

I just got my bike transport system and set it up. Although it feels very solid, when I put it together I saw something that bugged me. The two clamps on the front part of the bike carrier that clamp to the front cross bar of the roof transport system appear to have a nice smooth area on top where the large arm that holds the bike *could* lock into. This is very hard to explain, so I attached a couple pictures. Anyone with a bike rack care to chime in?

Bump! Seriously, nobody has a bike carrier and can comment?

Maybe if I said biking regularly can give you a +10 hp boost (since you lose weight)!
