Removal of first cat on OEM exhaust?
Removal of first cat on OEM exhaust?
Who has done this?
Just a simple removal not a replacement with another cat?
There is a another - bigger - cat in the mufler that should be plenty to pass smog.
The first cat should be easy to remove, even without cutting and welding. You should be ablt to drill it out.
The question is what to do with the second O2 sensor. This sensor has to be placed BEHIND the cat but now is place before the only cat left.
My question is: Where would the sensor need to be placed and is the mufler housing thick enough to weld the thread into it?
The other question is whether this will actually result in any real gains since there is still one 400 cel cat left in the system?
Any feedback is welcome.

What can you say about sound and power?
Is the car louder under WOT, and idle?
Did you notice more power, better throttle response, or anything else?
BTW, I saw your post one rennlist but some of the pictures don't work anymore.
My question is if this kind of setup will also work on a 600+ HP car or if it would still be too restrictive?
only 100 cell race cats
well you can't really have much less than 100 cell race cats unless you have nothing at all, look at http://home.earthlink.net/~equinedr/index.html
Sound wise on cold start up its loud but soon settles down, yes do notice more power from that but have had lots of other stuff done too at WOT presound proofing removal it was just right ; now post air filter Dv's, no soundproofing its jekyl and hyde starting from 3,000 rpm but not out of order.
thats why I need a Ferrari Stradale as well
