Thanks again. Looks like I'm shopping for a clutch. I'll check with umw and a local place. Seems like another stock clutch would be silly. I'll upgrade to something that can hold the torque. Tough pill to take so soon after buying the car, but I'm looking forward to the full acceleration after the upgrade.

My clutch is not slipping but my clutch slave is leaking. Do your self a favor and do the GT2 clutch slave conversion while your doing the clutch job.
I'm going to do the slave conversion and change the clutch while I'm there.

Is the clutch slave a typical problem on the 996tt? Are you doing anything with the master? Which clutch are you considering? I need one that can easily handle the 500hp, but still be a daily driver. It seems like either one from umw or the clutchmasters stage III are good choices. Any others that I should be considering?

Could be misfires if it does it at high RPMs in higher gears... When mine was doing it, it felt like the clutch or tire spin... When was the last time plug were changed? Clutch is expensive, so I wouldn't assume it is the clutch!

Easy way to find out for sure. With the car rolling at a lower speed, put it in a higher gear (4th or 5th) and come onto the throttle. With the turbos spooling, if the clutch is weak the RPMs should rise a lot more rapidly than your speed.

Don't keep doing this for very long.

The clutch accumulator usually goes and the master / slave is also suspect. I plan on doing all the Gt2 replacement parts; even the pump / reservoir! This hydraulics assist setup blows.

As for clutches, Tilton! I wish, they are big $$$
These seem to be the choices:
Carbonetics
Sachs
Clutchmaster

Some people have had issue with throw out bearings after clutch replacements.

Also considering the AASCO LWFW with one of the above clutches.

Keeps up posted on what you find.
