Question about wheels and offsets

Heres the deal. I have the optional sport techno wheels on my car which are made for narrowbody cars. They are 18x8 (50mm offset) and 18x11 (63mm offset + 17mm spacer). I don't like how they fit, they are not flush with the fenders. Heres what I'm thinking. Leave the fronts but add 7mm spacers. Buy another set of fronts and have them widened 3" and add 18mm spacer and put them on the rear. Does this make sense? Would it be flush? I did the same thing with my Corvette because I wanted to run drag radials and the stock fronts are 18" and stock rears are 19". I know a great shop that widens wheels and keeps them extremely strong and straight.

I will suggest a new set of wheels with aggressive offset!

The larger the spacer the more strain on the wheel bearings. Take that into account.

Larry, so you are saying that the spacers are bad for the wheel bearings? I wanted to go with 7 in front and 15 in the back but now maybe not.

I'm saying eventually it will put more wear on the bearings than with the factory offsets, so just be aware that the time will come when you will have to replace them. Some guys have had to replace them even though they didn't use spacers. I use the 7mm, 15mm combination with my street tires, and 7mm/7mm with my wider track tires to prevent rubbing. Bearings are a wear item and not that expensive.

I'm a computer barbarian and can't get the pics from my camera to upload. Do a search and you'll see the combo.
