Ok, how long will a drum of race gas last if you use some here and there?

I had to put mine in a hard plastic 5 gal gas container since the plastic pull out piece on a 5 gal disintegrated.

Myth. If gas or solvent leaches out, then it has to do more with the construction/material of the can rather than the surface the can sits on. VP fuels come in a steel can which when stored properly and away from water, will last for years. Plastic containers (even hard polypropylene ones) are not recommended for long term storage of gas as they will slowly deteriorate and gunk up your gas. I do not believe there is any nitromethane in ms109. The stuff does not mix well with gas and when combusted, forms nitric acid, a highly corrosive substance. You would have to thoroughly clean your engine if you added nitromethane or your engine will eventually freeze up.

essayons is infamous around these parts
other than storing your POL in a steel drum sitting on the concrete floor, you're fine. Put it on a pallet and there should be no issues. Keeping it off the ground keeps moisture from bulding up underneath/around the bottom edge.
