Do a search on the web for HSR and VARA. They'll have lists of upcoming events, and you should go watch one, walk around the paddock, talk to people, ask questions, etc. Some of the vintage guys are really nice, some take themselves too seriously, just like regular racing with current cars. If you're thinking of doing vintage in a P-car, try to get a built 914 racer that's been constantly maintained; they kick a$$ in vintage racing. Also, get the tech inspection station list from either vintage association for your area, and get to know the shops, see who can look out for you and your car, join up with others and ask around to get a lay of the land. Be sure when you get into racing a vintage car that you have it very thoroughly gone through, inspected, check for cracks, structural failures, integrity of suspension, chassis, cage, and by all means, protect yourself bigtime. The old-time racers risked their lives with little protection, and that's not the way it's done anymore, so be safe. Have fun!

If you really want to race an old GT40 or Ferrari, just search for the cars, and you'll find resources to help you race them. But, if you're seriously thinking of throwing $500-700k into racing, I'd like to suggest other options, so PM me.
