If AWE uses factory style connections like I see on the picture at the end of the boost hoses, then it is not a 3" outlet. That is the stock style which is about 2.25" and you would use the adapter fittings supplied as seen on the blue YPipe pic above in black. If you wanted to go to a full 3inch setup, you would have to have your shop cut the ends off the intercoolers and weld on a 3inch straight. We then supply you with a 3" to 3" coupler.

They are 80mm as there is a 80mm to stock 60mm reducer at the joint

I am referring to the fittings but after looking at the PDF, that is to go to the stock plastic Ypipe and the silicone goes over the end of the intercooler. I could supply you with a couple different couplers. So yes it will work.

Ok tx. Dan on this basis (I have 80mm AWE hoses from my AWE intercoolers as per PDF) can you PM me with your best Net price for a Gloss Black 3 inch Y pipe going into a stock OEM Plenum please ? It would be good if ALL the necessary Couplers are also black please. I presume the latest Y pipe versions no longer have the 3 tubes on top of the Y Pipe which were made for the optional water injection system ? + I should not have to under no circumstances drop the motor if I don't change the OEM Plenum right ??

There should be no reason anyone should drop the motor even to do the plenum. Being that you use your dealership, they would probably do whatever they can to get paid extra labor hours.

Based upon the PDF, if the silicone hose that goes from the stock black plastic YPipe to the intercooler is 60mm and then at the intercooler it goes to 80mm, then we would have to supply you with a 3inch coupler and a aluminum sleeve. The orientation of the YPipe end is the same as stock and by the pics of the AWE kit, these are pointed the same as stock.

PM sent!

Just going to chime in.... stock end tank configurations are only 1.8" ID. Thus measure the ID of your end tanks not the outside of a hose... Im guessing its either 1.8" or 2" Or maybe 2.25"... BTW, that is the bottleneck x4....

Yes I don't want to remove my intercoolers or do any welding please but obviously need to benefit from keeping the connections as wide as possible from the intercoolers to the OEM Plenum

Marksi,

You are saying the connections to the i/c are bottleneck, right? What about the cores?

So any intercooler with stock size (1.8") connections are not the best?

stock Cores are junk for bigger power... tube&FIn... aftermarkets usually are bar & plate.. with diff. qualities...
Bottom line is: the Y pipe will remove the 2 bottle necks... and proper end tanks will take care of the 4 other ones... with at least 2.5" ID connections...

Stock hoses ID...

a 2.5" ID ....

this is one with 2.25" ID... we make stock, 2.25", 2.5" as well...

This is very true for high HP cars. This is why on our 997TT we cut the ends off the intercooler and go straight 3inch all the way. For a stock K16 or K24 car, the Y-Pipe is a great basic bolt on power adder and dress up piece. Not to mention that when you do decide to make some serious power, it helps the puzzle come complete.

When our customers order our YPipe, they have the option to get stock style intercooler fittings or 3inch weld on material with proper couplers.

Just out of interest the 997 GT2 RS which is a monster car performance wise, doesn't look like it has a 3 inch Y pipe by any means

yeah, but it is also not running 600 whp or more. It's probably very efficient at the designed power level. Not sure that it even differs from the std GT2 y-pipe.
