Yes, you have to flip the lever to reach the center of the balljoint stud. Had to widen the fork and thin it a bit to clear the ball joint boot.

Tighten it up, putting pressure on the stud. It's not meant to be a press, but it puts in tension. Take a block of wood and a hammer and put a shock to the control arm and it will pop loose. Just cranking on the tool can bend the ball joint stud or break or strip the tool. Again, just crank it up, and shock the stud taper....

Worked like a champ for me.

I have used it before and instead of doing all that and still using the hammer I just go to the hammer..
