Ok guys, one last thermal test before I move on. I found a better road in the middle of the desert with no traffic so I attempted to get the IC temps to some steady value. It was cooler out today (17C) and even a small temp change can make a big difference. The flattening at 10-11 is a shift into 5th. By 145ish, the .2 cooler temp was pretty much flat in these conditions with my setup.

This will probably be the last side by side comparison (I'll still check compressor outlet temps though) I do for these. I'll do more regular durametric logs though as my upgrades continue (hopefully on Big Willow!). Thanks for reading

Fantastic work Earl!!

I really enjoyed the data. Iam surprised and impressed by the 997.2 ICs! I will watch will equal interest when you hook them up to some aftermarket turbos...

Thanks for doing this Earl! It would be nice to see the 997.2 against some of the aftermarket intercoolers. I think the results might be surprising.

Great Earl!
I thought you run 1Bar, but if it is 1.2B it shows ever better those Ic's efficience.
Are the after market ones I expected better, at triple price?...

Regards,

since these are slightly thicker you will have to do some cutting, but it is minimal and worth the trouble. I think earl spelled it out earlier in this thread on what you need to do.

I got mine in on Monday, but will have to wait until Christmas when I have the time to do tires, turbos, replace my cats with straight pipes, and these in one swoop.

++ rep points man.

Where did you get them so quick? I checked with several Porsche Dealers and the 2011 997.2 IC's are not even listed jet as being available from Porsche. Earliest ETA would be 6 weeks - if available. Placed the order anyway... and I have a wholesale license.. :cool:

I was able to negotiate a cost + 15% markup, Dealer cost is $398. List price is $758.

Frankly guys i was in the middle of a deadend with ICs..i tried two different brands of well known ICs with worse IAT results than OEM...I really didnt know what to do...and funny thing is that suppliers had the excuse that APR software is faulty...hilarious But now I tend to believe I would see better IATs than OEM...Sadly my ICs did not arrive today...Monday or Tuesday...:(

just as a side note. I just pressure tested(very mild pressure 3-4 psi) a standard IC and a GT2 IC and both were sealed tight. The end tank to core seal is very good at low pressures. So it looks like the seals last quite sometime. I know the pressure is low and I know that these types of snap ons are not good at high pressures, but it is definitely well designed.
